I partially agree with the 1st two responders. This program is overreach. Teachers have enough on their plate just teaching the core curriculum without also having to be psychological therapists as well. Making kids "feel good about themselves" does not override the feelings of incompeten…

This is horrible news. The paper is a quality local news production, accurately and thoroughly reflecting the culture of the Kern County community. It's only hoped that the writers (e.g., Price, Mayer, Beham) and staff will continue with their current positions.

The teachers mentioned are a small sample of the people who work in perhaps the most caring profession in the world. Kudos to them all.

Well-deserved. I've lived in several other parts of the country and comparatively speaking, TBC is a great local newspaper. Price, Benham and Mayer et al. are local treasures. Just hoping that TBC can retain its corporate independence.
