The soccer rivalry between the United States and Mexico — the indoor version — is coming to Bakersfield next month.

The national arena teams from the countries will play an exhibition game May 13 at Rabobank Arena, the venue announced Friday.

The game is part of a tune-up series for the teams as they prepare for the Minifootball World Cup in August in Tunisia.

Bernie Lilavois, the general manager for Team USA and also the president of the Ontario Fury of the Major Arena Soccer League, said in a news release he'd like to see this event serve as a springboard toward Bakersfield receiving an MASL franchise.

"Bakersfield is a hotbed for soccer, and we are confident that it will be an awesome turnout and feel Bakersfield is ready and a prime market for professional arena soccer," Lilavois said in the release.

Tickets start at $10 and are available at the Rabobank Arena box office or online at beginning at 10 a.m. Monday.
