CSUB women's basketball head coach Greg McCall greets the Roadrunners after they were introduced prior to last month's Blue/Gold Scrimmage at the Icardo Center.

The Cal State Bakersfield women’s basketball team is eagerly anticipating its home opener on Tuesday night.

The Roadrunners will take on Fresno Pacific at 7 p.m. at the Icardo Center.

CSUB is coming off a 67-56 defeat at UTEP to open the 2017-18 season. The Roadrunners were ahead 45-37 before being outscored 30-11 in the fourth quarter.

This is the first game of the new season for Fresno Pacific, a Division II program out of the Pacific West Conference.

It’s a busy week for the Roadrunners, who will head to San Jose State on Friday and then play at No. 10 Stanford on Sunday.

At the outset of this month, head coach Greg McCall said he’s looking for his team to just continue getting better every time out.

McCall said he’s optimistic about the Roadrunners added size and depth up front, as well as what he believes is an improved bench.

“It’s still early. It’s a lot of things we’re continuing to try to still work on,” McCall said prior to the season. “We’re prepared as much as we think we are, until we get out there on the floor. Then we go back and watch video. My biggest thing is going out and playing hard for 40 minutes. Just executing.”
