Fresh off their Central Section Division II title, the Garces girls water polo team found a way to win again. Taking the pool in the opening round of the CIF Northern California Division III regionals, the No. 3-seeded Rams hosted No. 6 Tracy-Kimball and came out victorious 19-8. The deciding factor were eight second quarter tallies for the Rams, who got six goals apiece from Logan Wimbish and Abby Schechter. The Rams will be back in action Thursday when they travel to face No. 2 Mill Valley-Tamalpais.

“We know we play well together and know that we have good chemistry,” Wimbish said. “We know the more fun we have, the more confidence we have. I don’t think it matters where we play.”

In boys action, Garces won its CIF Northern California D-II regional opener on the road. The No. 5-seeded Rams beat No. 4 Granite Bay 12-6. Joe Starr led the way with six goals. The Rams will play next at No. 1 Clovis-Buchanan on Thursday.
