CSUB's women's basketball coach Greg McCall watches his players as they play Utah Valley Saturday afternoon.

Cal State Bakersfield women’s basketball could pull within one game of the program record for consecutive wins with a victory at Utah Valley on Thursday. The Roadrunners have rattled off seven straight Western Athletic Conference wins with its last loss coming more than one month ago.

The Roadrunners will face the Wolverines in Orem, Utah at 10 a.m. on Thursday. CSUB (15-10, 9-2 WAC) has a firm grip on first place in the WAC with a full game lead on New Mexico State (14-11, 8-3).

Utah Valley (10-16, 4-7) is headed in the opposite direction as CSUB, having lost its last two games and six of its last seven. The Wolverines lost to Chicago State at home on Feb. 8 for Chicago State’s first win since Feb. 4, 2016.

CSUB beat UVU, 63-58, in the first conference game of the year.

“Their record doesn't show how good they are,” CSUB head coach Greg McCall said. “They gave us a good run for our money at home in our very first conference game. They were knocking down 3s left and right. It took us until the fourth quarter to put the game away.”
