The Roadrunners finished out the regular season tied for third in the Western Athletic Conference and received the fourth seed in the WAC Tournament. That pits CSUB against fifth-seeded Seattle University on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in Edinburg, Texas.

Seattle and CSUB split its two meetings during the regular season with each team winning at home. The Roadrunners swept the Redhawks in three sets on Sept. 28. Seattle topped CSUB one month late in four sets.

Seattle finished second-to-last in the conference in hitting percentage and kills and last in digs per set. CSUB was second in assists, kills and digs and first in service aces.

Men’s basketball adds 1 during early signing period

The Roadrunners picked up another junior college transfer. Darius Williams, from Paris Junior College in Texas, signed his national letter of intent to come to Bakersfield for the 2018-19 season.

Williams, who is originally from New Jersey, was invited to the Mullen’s JC Showcase. He played a year of post graduate basketball at The Robinson School, where he averaged 17 points and 12 rebounds per game and was named the conference player of the year.

"He fits what we do here,” CSUB head coach Rod Barnes said to “He is a very unselfish player who is long, athletic, and skilled with size and length. He is a versatile player who can play inside and outside.”

Angel Valdez places 74th at cross country regionals

CSUB senior runner Angel Valdez improved 44 places from the year prior and finished 74th out of 243 runners at the NCAA West Regional Championships on Saturday. It was the finale of a record-setting cross country career for Valdez, who holds all of CSUB’s records. She’ll now set her sights on the track season and has realized she can break even more records.
