Ryan Hamilton

Condors captain Ryan Hamilton greets fans before heading onto the ice before a recent game at Rabobank Arena. Hamilton suffered a broken right leg in Wednesday night's game agains the Gulls in San Diego.

The Condors lost much more than a game Wednesday night in San Diego, they lost captain Ryan Hamilton to a broken leg.

Hamilton suffered two broken bones in his right leg and, according to the team, underwent successful surgery in San Diego on Thursday. The injury occurred near the Condors bench when Hamilton fell awkwardly after a clean hit. Hamilton has 21 points in 41 games.

The Condors lost the game 6-0 and head into Saturday night’s contest in Tucson with a bare-bones roster of 20, meaning there are no extra skaters. Also out with injuries are defensemen Caleb Jones and Ryan Mantha. Defenseman Keegan Lowe is called up to Edmonton and forward Mitch Callahan is under AHL suspension until the final three games of the season.
