The Bakersfield Condors fell into a big hole early, made a mid-game push, yet couldn't complete the comeback late in a Saturday night loss to the Stockton Heat.

The Heat topped the Condors 5-3 at Rabobank Arena. Bakersfield is now 3-4-0-0 on the season, while Stockton moved to 6-2-0-1.

The Heat received four goals in the first period. Morgan Klimchuk netted two, which were sandwiched between markers from Hunter Shinkaruk and Brett Findlay. The four goals came on just nine Stockton shots.

The Condors fired back in the second period, however. Joey LaLeggia and Ty Rattie each had power play goals, while Patrick Russell came away with a shorthanded tally to make the score 4-3 at second intermission.

Still, that was all the Condors would get, and Findlay's second goal of the night put things away at the 9:14 mark of the third period.

The Condors will be back home Wednesday night against the Manitoba Moose. Puck drops at 6:30 p.m. at Rabobank Arena.
