The Foothill High School Athletic Hall of Fame Committee will host its Sixth Annual dinner on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Bakersfield Country Club.
The Hall of Fame was formed in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of Foothill High School and is a fitting tribute to the legacy of athletic and community achievement of talented Trojan Alumni spanning five decades.
While thousands of athletes began their careers at Foothill, only a select few will be inducted into the school's Hall of Fame. The list includes 10 individual athletes as well as two teams — 1976 varsity basketball team that took home a Central Section championship; and the 1998 wrestling team that won a South Yosemite Area title.
“Inductees include outstanding athletes from both men’s and women’s athletics throughout the history of Foothill High School, as well as contributors and coaches who have irrevocably impacted the community,” said Dr. John Alexander, Chairman of the Hall of Fame Nomination Committee.
“Our dinner will be an outstanding event, fitting with the accomplishments of the inductees. Any sports fan in Kern County would enjoy the event,” said Kern County Supervisor Mike Maggard, also a member of the Hall of Fame Committee.
