MONTEREY — Bakersfield College women’s basketball coach Paula Dahl won her 300th career game Saturday night as the Renegades downed Monterey Peninsula 69-59 in the consolation championship of the Monterey Peninsula tournament.
Dahl is in her 23rd season at BC. The Renegades improved to 8-6 with their eighth win in their last nine games.
“I’m so grateful that Sandy Bowers and Carl Bowser were willing to take a chance on a 28-year-old rookie coach,” said Dahl, who had never been a head coach prior to BC. “I’m grateful for all the folks like Steve Holmes and Emre Ozoral who helped me in the beginning. Susan Pinza, former coach Jenny Dahl (no relation). … Just wonderful people who invested in me.”
Mackenzie te Velde and Peanut Figueroa led BC with 15 points each.
