The Bakersfield Aquatics Club had several standout performances at the South West Age Group Regional Championship recently in Roseville.

Ella Guffey won all seven events she swam. Her time of 4:34.05 in the 400-yard individual medley ranks in the top 100 for her age group (11-12) in USA Swimming history, and her time of 5:07.77 in the 500-yard freestyle qualified her for the 2017 USA Swimming Speedo Sectional Championsthips this summer.

In addition, Alex Ostrom had five top-5 performances and scored 43 team points; Alaina Riggs made the finals in four events; Caroline Rous made three finals; and Aidan Eckard made the finals in two events.

Earlier this year, the BAC placed third in the Short Course Junior Olympics, its best finish in nine years. Ella Guffey broke a Central California record in the 200 backstroke by five seconds with a time of 2:09.50; it also places her in the top 25 nationally for her age.
