RIDGECREST — Several Kern County Fire Department engine crews responded to a mobile fire at the Town and Country Mobile Home Park on Atkins early Saturday morning.
According to Kern County Battalion Chief Steve Pendergrass, no one was home at the time of the fire and there were no reportable injuries.
“We have not yet made contact with the owner at this time,” Pendergrass said.
Crews responded to the fire at around 6 a.m. The home was engulfed as Fire Engines 54, 56, 71, 74 and 77 all responded to the scene as a reinforced fire call.
Firefighters knocked down the flames but not before it was gutted from the inside. The fire was contained to the structure.
Officers from Ridgecrest Police and Arvin Police Departments, among other agencies, also responded to assist.
Pendergrass said that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
First responders and firefighters from multiple agencies have been responding to multiple calls of fires, gas leaks and medical emergencies in the wake of a series of earthquakes that hit Ridgecrest and Trona Thursday and Friday.
The largest, a 7.1 magnitude on the Richter Scale, occurred at around 8:20 p.m. on Friday 11 miles from Ridgecrest, a day after the July 4 6.4 magnitude earthquake shook the Ridgecrest and Trona areas.
