Here we go again. Another sanctioned event in Bakersfield explicitly promoting alcohol consumption, while legal cannabis is banned. The former substance kills 2.5 million Americans annually, while the latter has statistically taken the life of, uh... nobody.

Alcohol very nearly took my life. Cannabis typically makes the user "high." Alcohol typically makes the user high, too. And so it goes. Some of us need the benefits of cannabis products for a variety of medical conditions (with stellar results), others simply like it, period.

I envision a locally sanctioned cannabis event someday, in about 20 years when Bakersfield catches up with the times. That's historically the algorithm. I keep hearing from local city, county and law enforcement officials about the "scourge of cannabis on our youth." Take note that alcohol is the real gateway drug.
