Kern County animal lovers will be able to enjoy Twilight at CALM Saturday evenings this summer starting July 14 and going until Aug. 25.

The event will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner for a meal with the animals.

Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children 3 to 12 years old.

CALM is located at 10500 Alfred Harrell Highway.


The unveiling of a Purple Heart parking stall will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday at American Legion Post 26, 2020 H St.

The public is invited to attend the ceremony, in which a parking spot reserved only for those who have received a Purple Heart is revealed for the first time.
