Highway 99 is scheduled to be closed to all traffic early Sunday between 1 and 6 a.m. in the vicinity of the Belle Terrace overcrossing.
The overcrossing and both directions of Wible Road will also be closed during those hours.
The closures will affect both directions of travel on Highway 99 and are needed to allow temporary utility lines to be strung across the freeway in advance of future construction on Centennial Corridor Phase 2.
The utility lines will be placed in the new bridge following construction.
A detour will be set up for northbound Highway 99 where motorists will exit the freeway at Ming Avenue and continue east to H Street, then travel north to Highway 58 before returning to northbound 99.
Southbound Highway 99 motorists will detour on Highway 58 to the H Street exit and head south to White Lane before returning to southbound 99.
The Central Valley Farmworker Foundation will host its second annual Dia de la Famlia event from noon to 4 p.m., Sept. 9, at Cecil Park, located at 1730 Madison St. in Delano.
The free event celebrates farmworkers and their families with a day of entertainment, kids activities, food and educational information provided by community organizations.
Last year, more than 2,000 farmworkers attended and more than 600 community members received access to free health screenings.
The organization expects to double its attendance this year and plans to increase its vendor capacity to 60 organizations.
