Willie Frink, Bakersfield's first African-American millionaire contractor, being laid to rest Saturday

Willie Frink laid the foundation for much of Bakersfield, and in doing so, paved the way for minority business owners to come after him.

One of the county’s busiest and most prominent African-American concrete contractors during a time marked by rapid development, Frink literally placed his stamp at hundreds of construction sites between the late 1960s and 1980s, including the Bakersfield Police Department, the Bank of America building downtown and myriad housing developments.
