Ed Wasserman

Ed Wasserman, dean of the School of Journalism at UC Berkeley, is speaking Thursday night at CSU Bakersfield on the proliferation of fake news.

No, the world does not stop turning during the Kern County Fair. It might just seem that way to some people.

But on the assumption that you might not get your kicks hanging with carnies, consider this entertainment option: Dr. Edward Wasserman, Dean of Journalism at UC Berkeley, will be speaking on “Fake News and the Threat to Democracy” at the 13th annual KIE Fall Lecture at CSUB's Doré Theatre, at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The event is sponsored by TBC Media, and it is free and open to the public, with free parking in the adjacent lot. Dr. Christopher Meyers of the Kegley Institute will use the occasion to publicly introduce KIE’s new director, Dr. Michael Burroughs.
