A Shot Spotter alert on Sunday past midnight brought officers to east Bakersfield and led to two arrests. According to Bakersfield Police, no victims were located and witnesses said the shots were possibly fired into the air

The Shot Spotter activation directed police around 12:36 a.m. to the 1500 block of Ralston Street, where two 9-mm bullet casings were found, according to BPD.

Police went to a nearby apartment and arrested Rene Hernandez on suspicion of firearm violations, possession of stolen property and participation in gang activity, BPD said. Lupe Hernandez was also arrested at the apartment with a warrant for felony parole violation, according to BPD.
