Cal State Bakersfield President Lynnette Zelezny was on site Monday at the new, temporary Bakersfield College classrooms at Scarlet Oak and Camino Media to greet the first BC students to arrive at the Bakersfield College SouthWest campus. While it marks just a temporary home for BC SouthWest — completion of the University Office Center is scheduled for early 2021 — it still represents a major step forward in higher education in Kern County. By bringing BC students to a campus closely adjacent to CSUB, the hope is to ease the transition to the university for students who have expressed their intention to transfer.
