Pedestrian struck by train Wednesday, in critical condition

A pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck by a train at the intersection of Baker and Sumner streets Wednesday evening, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

A preliminary investigation revealed a man was wearing earphones, walking south across the tracks, and did not notice the approaching train.

He was taken to a hospital, according to BPD’s news release. The investigation is ongoing.
