Bakersfield High School and the Bakersfield Fire Department will each hold short remembrance ceremonies Tuesday to mark the 17th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

The BHS ceremony begins at just before 8 a.m. in Elm Grove on campus, and will include a color guard, the national anthem performed by the BHS quartet and other features.

The fire department's event will take place at 8:30 a.m. at the World Trade Center Memorial, 1315 Buena Vista Road, and will include an honor guard presentation and remarks by Bakersfield Fire Chief Anthony Galagaza, Bakersfield Police Chief Lyle Martin, and Bakersfield Mayor Karen Goh.
