The Community Action Partnership of Kern is holding two farmers’ markets over the next two Saturdays, one in Bakersfield and the other in Wasco.

Free produce distribution will start on Saturday in Wasco at Annin Park, 935 Gromer Ave., from 8-10 a.m. On June 16, another farmers’ market will be held at the Kern County Fairgrounds, 1142 S. P Street in Bakersfield, for the same time period.

The goal of the markets is to help families who struggle with having enough food, especially fresh food. The events will be held in partnership with The Wonderful Company.

The Kern County Public Health Department is holding a press conference on water safety Friday.

Local officials will be talking about the importance of water safety heading into the summer months and providing basic tips. There will also be discussion of drowning statistics and resource information will be handed out.
