The Bakersfield City School District is looking for name suggestions for its new school site.
The district recently purchased land near the southwest corner of Belle Terrace and Cottonwood Road for a new elementary school. The design of the school site is already being worked on.
Anyone who would like to make a suggestion can submit in writing suggested name(s) and why that name should be chosen to: The Office of the Assistant Superintendent, Business Services, 1300 Baker St., Bakersfield, CA 93305.

Bike Bakersfield will hold a Full Moon Ride on March 7.
The ride will start at 7 p.m. at Beach Park, at Oak and 21st streets, and ends at The Marketplace, 9000 Ming Ave. The ride will follow the Kern River Parkway Trail west from Beach Park and turn South at California State University, Bakersfield, continue on the bike path through the CSUB campus and end at The Marketplace.
Bike Bakersfield staff will be on hand with tools and flat tire repair equipment in case of a problem during the ride. Riders are encouraged to bring lights and helmets.

Bakersfield College's Mathematics, Engineering and Science Achievement organization will be holding a networking conference on March 3.
The conference will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Indoor Theater at Bakersfield College, 1801 Panorama Drive. The conference will give students the chance to meet professionals in the math, engineering, science, technology and pre-health fields and learn about education and career opportunities.
The conference is free for the first 50 people to sign up. After that, it costs $5 per person. Students can RSVP at bit.ly/2EJW6Yl.
