The Bakersfield Firefighters Burn Foundation truck was a big hit with everyone during the Christmas parade in 2016.

Organizers of the annual Bakersfield Christmas Parade are accepting applications for this year’s event, to be held downtown Dec. 7.

This year’s theme is “A Patriotic Christmas,” appropriate as the parade will be held on Pearl Harbor Day.

Entries are being accepted in all parade categories: Floats, Marching/Walking, Equestrian, Vehicle, Military and Drill Teams. A full list of categories is available at, where the parade application is also available for download.

The parade is limited to about 100 entries and those with floats should really commit early because of the time it takes to construct them, organizers said.

Each entry application must include the proper fee and evidence of insurance documents to be considered by the Parade Committee. Applications are also being taken from vendors. Submittal of an application does not guarantee participation in the parade.

The entry deadline is 4:30 p.m. Oct. 27. For more information, contact Mira Patel, parade coordinator, at 301-2081 or
