Cal-Organic Farms produce stand in Tehachapi is opening, offering organic fruits and vegetables "right from the farm."

“Residents tell us they wait all year for the stand to open,” said Jeff Huckaby, president of Grimmway Farms, the parent company of Cal-Organic, in a news release. “This marks the 10th consecutive year we’ve operated the stand on Bear Valley Road, which beckons customers with its simple, bold and historic ‘Organic Produce’ stenciled signage.”

The organics sold come from Bakersfield, Lamont and Arvin. Cal-Organic Farms first opened its Tehachapi produce stand in 2007 in response to requests from local residents looking to purchase fresh, organic produce, the news release said.

Items offered include arugula, beets, bok choy, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, chard, cilantro, collard greens, daikon, dandelion, fennel, green onions, kale, leeks, lettuce (butter, leaf, iceberg, romaine), mustard greens, parsley and radishes.

The stand will be open every Saturday from June 24 to Sept. 2 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It's located at 23968 Bear Valley Road. Cash and checks are accepted; credit and debit cards are not.
