The Bakersfield Car Club Council, along with Bart Hall of Fred Hall Shows and Mike Hatcher of Central Valley Sportsman & RV Show, presented two checks to the Society for Disabled Children of Kern County Monday totaling $20,750, the group said this week.

The money is a chief fundraiser for Camp Blue Jay, a Society for Disabled Children initiative each July that enables local disabled children to experience a week of camp.

This year's funds were generated by the 21st annual BCCC Super Cruise Car Show and the inaugural Super Import Cruise, held March 11-12 at the Kern County Fairgrounds in conjunction with the 40th annual Fred Hall Central Valley Sports Show, a Car Club Council news release said.

This year’s donation brought the total money raised for the society from this event over the last 21 years to $361,672, the release said.

The major 2017 Super Cruise event sponsors were: Rodriguez & Associates – A Professional Law Corp.; Bakersfield Electric Motor Repair/Skip & Patty Langston; Advance Beverage Co./Budweiser; Chuy’s; Norman Wireline Services; Bart’s Parts; Kern County Raceway Park; Brandon’s Transmission; 8th annual T-Town Rumble Car Show; and Rankin Electric.
