The city of Bakersfield is planning to hold a modified Fourth of July celebration event this year that will include fireworks.

City spokesman Joe Conroy said more details will be announced when plans are finalized.

Last year the city canceled its annual event, held at The Park at River Walk, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and local and state government restrictions on social gatherings.
