Charges dismissed for detentions deputy accused of ingesting meth, bringing drugs to jail

A Kern County Sheriff's deputy had drug intoxication and possession charges against her dismissed Friday after successfully completing classes for drug abuse, according to her attorney.

Defense attorney Kyle J. Humphrey filed in court proof that Elizabeth Fernandez — a county employee for 21 years — completed 20 Narcotics Anonymous meetings. The case's dismissal terms included accruing no more law violations since her arrest in June, according to Kern County Superior Court Judge Chad A. Louie.
