Carrot and organic produce giant Grimmway Farms announced Wednesday it has promoted Executive Vice President Jeff Huckaby to become president, replacing Jeff Meger, who will head the Bakersfield-based company’s real estate division.
A former farm manager for rival Bolthouse Farms, Huckaby, 49, joined Grimmway’s executive team 10 years ago after overseeing the growth of the company’s organics division. He and Meger, 48, have co-managed the company since the death of co-founder Bob Grimm in 2006.
Most recently, Huckaby has led the farming, harvesting, production and sales of all Grimmway commodities.
“Over the past 25 years, I’ve seen the rapid growth of both the baby carrot business and the demand for organics,” Huckaby said in a news release. “I’m looking forward to working with our customers, employees and industry partners as we chart the next decade of growth.”
Family-owned and -operated for more than 40 years, Grimmway includes Cal-Organic Farms, King Pak Potato Co. and True Organic Juices. It operates in California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Oregon and Washington.
