A Weldon man was shot dead by his mother over the weekend after he threatened to kill his parents and stabbed his father, sheriff's officials say.

Truman Edward Fulfer, 33, died at the scene of the shooting Saturday afternoon in the 5300 block of Isabel Drive.

Fulfer had called his parents and threatened to kill them before arriving at their residence and chasing his father with a "stabbing instrument," according to a sheriff's news release. He eventually caught his father and forced him to the ground.

Fulfer had begun stabbing his father when his mother grabbed a gun and shot him, sheriff's officials say.

The father suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Deputies said the parents cooperated with the investigation and no arrests were made.

Anyone with further information regarding this incident is asked to call the Kern County Sheriff’s Office at 861-3110.
