Three masked, armed men tried robbing people working on drive-thru ATM at a northwest Bakersfield bank on Wednesday morning.

Police said the suspects around 9 a.m. approached people working on an ATM at the Chase Bank near the intersection of Rosedale Highway and Allen Road. One of the suspects was armed with a rifle, the other two with pistols.

They demanded money, but fled without getting any cash, police said.

The suspects got into a faded black 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe and fled westbound on Rosedale Highway, according to police.  A short time later, the suspect vehicle was found abandoned in an orchard near the intersection of Rudd Avenue and Noriega Road.

No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call the Kern County Sheriff’s Office at 861-3110.

Let's see.....three armed and masked individuals invade an ATM being serviced. Seems this takes planning and is not a random act. How did they select this ATM, especially during servicing? Did they have inside information? Just me (and others) being our suspicious selves.
