A man who gunned down another man after an argument in a south Bakersfield bar two years ago has been arrested.

Gabriel Verdugo, 25, was taken into custody in Mexicali, Mexico on Tuesday and transported back to Kern County, where he was booked on a charge of first-degree murder, sheriff's officials said. He is being held without bail.

According to sheriff's officials, Verdugo argued with 30-year-old Elvis Gonzalez at about 1:45 a.m. on Aug. 8, 2015, at the El Escorpion bar on South Chester Avenue. During the argument, Verdugo pulled a gun and shot Gonzalez once, killing him.

Verdugo's arraignment is set for Thursday.
