Motorist arrested on DUI, hit-and-run charges after hitting bicyclist

A motorist has been arrested on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run after striking a bicyclist Saturday evening and leaving the scene.

Adam Russell Goss, 30, was taken into custody at a home near the area of the 9:50 p.m. crash in Oildale, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers said Goss drove a pickup south on Sequoia Drive and crossed over solid double yellow lines into the northbound lane near Sharon Place. He hit Andrea Christine Webb, 22, head-on as she rode a bicycle in the northbound lane.

The impact flung Webb from the bike and onto the roadway. She suffered major injuries and was taken to Kern Medical Center, where she remains in critical condition.

The pickup was found abandoned in a nearby alley, according to the CHP. Officers then traveled to a house on Castaic Avenue, where Goss was known to be staying.

Goss was found inside and arrested without incident, officers said.

In 2006, Goss pleaded no contest to DUI causing bodily injury, according to court records.
