The Kern County Sheriff’s Office on Monday arrested a suspect in a kidnapping and sexual assault of a minor originally reported Saturday.

At 9:30 a.m. Monday, KCSO received a call regarding a possible sighting of the suspect vehicle involved in the Saturday kidnapping, according to a sheriff’s news release.

Deputies were dispatched to the area of Cliffwood Way and Derby Drive where they contacted the owner of the truck and trailer, Hilario Viruncruz, KCSO said.

KCSO said the deputies determined the truck matched several of the surveillance videos seized during the initial investigation and subsequently detained Viruncruz.

The victim of the kidnapping later positively identified Viruncruz and the vehicle, according to the sheriff’s department.

Viruncruz was booked into to the Central Receiving Facility on charges of false imprisonment, kidnapping and sexual assault of a minor.
