A correctional officer accused of gunning down another correctional officer at his estranged wife's apartment was arrested in Mexico and is currently being held in Yuma, Ariz.

Rigoberto Sanchez, 39, faces a murder charge in the shooting of 31-year-old Edwin Lima the night of May 28, police said in a news release. Sanchez fired into an apartment on Valleyview Drive where his wife lives. She was inside at the time and was uninjured.

Sanchez burglarized the apartment on March 9 and May 27, the release said.

Sanchez was found in Mexico on Friday then transported to Yuma. Once he's extradited to Kern County he will be arrested on charges of murder and attempted murder, according to the release.
