Coroner's report says gunshot the cause of New Year's Eve shooting victim's death

The Kern County coroner's office has determined the cause and manner of death of a Bakersfield teenager who died in a New Year's Eve shooting.

According to the coroner's report, Emmanuel Alfaro Arechiga, 18, died by a gunshot wound in the manner of homicide.

The report says Arechiga was shot by another at the 2800 block of Morin Court before driving to the 2500 block of Echo Avenue. The shooting took place at 9:28 a.m., the coroner says, adding Arechiga died at 9:42 a.m.
