A Bakersfield motorcyclist died Friday hours after his bike overturned in a parking lot on Golden State Highway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Gustavo Adolfo Suarez, 51, was accelerating out of the Country Tire and Wheel at 8450 Golden State Highway, south of 7th Standard Road, when he lost control of his 2014 Harley Davidson after traveling over uneven pavement, according to the CHP.

His bike overturned and Suarez hit the pavement. He was not wearing a helmet and suffered major head trauma in the 12:35 p.m. crash, officers said. 

Suarez was taken to Kern Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 8:17 p.m., according to the coroner's office.
