With winds whipping at nearly 50 miles per hour, a 200 acre-fire has spread off Highway 166, near Wind Wolves Preserve, according to the Kern County Fire Department.
First called at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, the department said high winds were causing rapid spread.
At 1:04 p.m., the department reported ground and air resources had reached the scene.
On its website, Wind Wolves Preserve said Tuesday afternoon it was closed until further notice due to the brush fire.
