A Delano man who has been accused of having sexual relationships with several underage girls and is awaiting his preliminary hearing was arrested in Tulare County last week, police officials confirmed.
Bobby Scott Campos Perigo, a former school counselor, was cited and released with a misdemeanor Sept. 4 for violation of a court order, according to the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department. However sheriff’s officials would not disclose the details of the court order or how he violated it. The Tulare County District Attorney’s Office had not received a report from the Sheriff’s Department to review Tuesday morning, Stewart Anderson, a DA spokesman, said.
Perigo, who was initially arrested March 24 on suspicion of a handful of sex charges with minors, is out on $72,000 bail while awaiting a Sept. 28 pre-preliminary hearing in Kern County. Preliminary hearings are held to determine if there’s enough evidence to send a defendant to trial.
It’s unclear whether his citation will impact his case.
Police reports show a pattern of Perigo being accused of sexual misconduct with minors as a volunteer baseball coach eight years ago, later as a California Highway Patrol cadet and most recently as a student affairs specialist in the Delano Joint Union High School District.
He’s been charged with three counts of unlawful sexual intercourse, one count of oral copulation with a person under 18 years old, lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 years old, one count of contacting a minor with intent to commit a sexual offense and one count of exhibiting sexual material to a minor.
