Area women's group gathered outside of City Hall in Bakersfield on Tuesday to protest the lack of representation on the Measure N Oversight Committee. 

Groups included Women’s March Kern County, American Association of University Women, Latina Leaders, ShePower and the League of Women Voters.

This is how affirmative action became the issue of hiring people on the basis of quotas and not qualification. This is not a valid protest.

It’s not so much about women as it is right brained v left brained representation. We need less business interest v humanitarian interest.


Ok so let’s look at the qualifications side by side of each person that applied . It’s sad that we had to have affirmative action to force people to hire fair and equally. There is still a gender pay gap in this country .
