The 15th annual Make a Difference Day was held in downtown Bakersfield and historic Oleander on Saturday morning. Volunteers arrived at the Fox Theater at 7 a.m. for the event, which was put on by Keep Bakersfield Beautiful. It included litter cleanup, tree and flower planting, and community gardening. According to the city's website, the mission of Keep Bakersfield Beautiful is "to engage individuals to take greater responsibility for improving their community."
