Albert Sanchez, center in bottom photo, lays bricks recently at Centennial Plaza with help from fellow jail inmates Joshua Burton, right, and Roy Iversen. The last of the engraved bricks were placed Wednesday, landscape architect Don Hoggatt said, though the final brickwork is set to be done next week. After the Centennial Foundation corrects the misspellings and replaces the chipped bricks, the concentric rings of red rectangles will be mortared into place. This time the bricks face outward so viewers can read them from outside the fountain area. ÒThere was a lot of feedback from the initial grand openingÓ suggesting the bricks be turned around, Hoggatt said.
