Democratic presidential candidate Julian Castro was in Delano on Friday, touring The Forty Acres National Historic Landmark with Cesar Chavez’s son Anthony Chavez. It was at Forty Acres that Cesar Chavez held his first public fast that ultimately elevated the farmworkers' movement into the national spotlight and allowed the United Farm Workers to negotiate contracts, protect the rights of their people and eventually end a five-year table-grape strike.
