Twenty-four-hour shifts are the norm for those in the Bakersfield Fire Department. The station becomes a second home and the crew a second family, making the bond between firefighters extremely strong. And they wouldn’t have it any other way. After all, that trust is essential when responding to call where lives can be on the line.
