Students and school officials gathered at Highland Elementary School Wednesday to present over 4,000 pairs of socks to the Hope Center & Standard School District's Clothing Closet. After starting with a single fifth-grade class that donated a few hundred socks to the cause, the school-wide project has taken off during its six year existence, collecting over 17,700 socks in the process. The Hope Center is a nonprofit, faith-bases charitable organization that assists low-income individuals and families in the community.
