An extravagant swearing-in ceremony for new District Attorney Cynthia Zimmer, which hundreds are expected to attend, is getting underway at the Kern County Administrative building.

Zimmer has personally paid for the event, which features sheer white canopies draped throughout the rotunda and gold-gilded chairs. Two overflow rooms have been made available and attendees include former District Attorney Ed Jagels and Republican political powerhouse Kathy Abernathy.
