Racers from around the country flocked to Bakersfield Friday for the annual BMX Golden State Nationals, which welcomes BMX racers and enthusiasts of all ages.

The tournament also serves as the home for 2023 USA Cycling Collegiate National Championship, with student athletes competing for individual and team wins.

Competitors also have the chance to qualify to be one of 16 riders representing the United States at the 2023 UCI BMX World Challenge, with the weekend's races counting as the second and final World Qualifiers.

The races continue at 9 a.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday at the Sam Lynn Ballpark Complex on Chester Avenue. The cost of admission is $10 per day.
