The Bakersfield City School District held a grand opening for its fourth wellness center. The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony took place at the Jewett Street Wellness Center at Stella Hills Elementary School, at 3800 Jewett Avenue.

Center staff include nurse practitioners and licensed clinical social workers and case managers. Services include kindergarten physicals, immunizations, medication needs, wellness exams, treatment of basic and chronic illnesses, referrals to more intensive medical care, individual and group counseling, as well as parent and student education on health related topics.

All BCSD students are eligible to be seen at the centers. Since opening their doors, more than 8,000 students have visited the centers, totaling more than 13,000 visits.
