Writers of Kern speaker to share self-marketing advice

Molly Jo Realy

Molly Jo Realy, an author, editor and social media ninja, will speak at the Writers of Kern meeting on Saturday.

You’ve completed your manuscript and it’s published. But you’re not finished yet. In the current publishing climate, authors are expected to create their own marketing. Don't know where to start? Writer and editor Molly Jo Realy will share a “Marketing Mojo” presentation Saturday at the Writers of Kern meeting.

Join the discussion as she shares her expertise as a social media and "marketing ninja" who helps authors and other creative types garner the audience — and sales — they desire. Discover the difference between too much and not enough. Understand what platforms to use and when to start.

“Attendees will learn when and how to create an individualized marketing plan and why certain marketing works for some people, but not all works for everyone,” Realy said. Included will be pointers on what rules to follow and when (and how) to forge their own path.

Having worked with a variety of authors, Realy has experience running social media, local author events and nationwide book launches. Her personal marketing ideas have garnered the attention of agents and publishers. See more of her work at

Realy has been featured in children’s magazines, on blogs and devotional websites. Her short stories have earned her awards and scholarships from nationally acclaimed writing programs.

She is the author of "The Unemployment Cookbook: Ideas for Feeding Families One Meal at a Time." Realy is the founder of New Inklings Press, and a producer of the weekly “Firsts in Fiction” podcast.
