Brian Shul

Seen here in a self-portrait in a SR-71 Blackbird, Major Brian Shul will be the guest speaker at the Minter Field Founders Day Banquet on Feb. 9 at Hodel's Liberty Hall.

The Minter Field Founders Day Banquet isn't until next weekend, but the last day to reserve tickets is this Wednesday.

The event, to be held at Hodel's Liberty Hall (5917 Knudsen Drive) on Feb. 9, will include special speaker retired Maj. Brian Shul of the United States Air Force.

Shul was a USAF pilot and is a Vietnam veteran whose aircraft was shot down in the vicinity of the Cambodian border. He suffered severe burns in the fire after the crash. After being rescued, he spent a year in the hospital and was told he would most likely never fly again, but Shul eventually returned both to duty and to the skies.

Cocktails will start at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $35 each or $300 for a table of eight. To reserve a spot and purchase tickets, call 393-0291 or email mfam@minterfieldairmuseum.com. Seating is limited. If extra seats are available the night of the event, they will be sold at the door.
